Getting a Carrier Infinity system communicating again
Carrier Infinity
Communication repair
Nine service visits
Over 20 hours of technician time
A Miami homeowner called with a vague complaint: there was a problem with his Carrier
Infinity unit. The first visit lasted several hours while the technician worked through
the diagnosis. The outdoor communication board for that Infinity model was identified as
a needed part early on.
While that board was on order, the system would run inconsistently. The homeowner had
purchased a high end communicating system and expected it to behave like one. Manual
adjustments, software updates, and extra wiring work kept the home as comfortable as
possible until the correct parts arrived. Carrier support and our sales representative
helped rush the board so the home was not left waiting longer than necessary.
The completed repair path included more than one control component. The outdoor
communication board was replaced. The indoor control board was replaced. The Infinity
control system thermostat was also replaced. Software updates and follow up adjustments
were part of bringing the communicating network back together.
After nine trips totaling more than 20 hours of technician time, the Infinity system was
working as expected and the homeowner was satisfied. The board and control replacements
were the path that restored consistent high end communication behavior, not just basic
cooling.
The same month, a second nearly new Carrier Infinity install from another company showed
a related pattern. That home needed a software update plus indoor control board,
dissipation board, and communication control module replacements after Carrier support
guidance. Newer communicating systems can still need careful board level work when the
factory network stops talking.

Before and during service: ducts, capacitors, and blower motors
Not every productive visit is a multi day diagnosis. Much of our Miami work is the
steady maintenance and repair that keeps systems running. Before duct cleaning or
equipment installation, we also prep the home so floors and living areas stay protected
while the work is underway.
Before
House prep before duct cleaning or equipment installation. We cover and stage the
work area to help avoid floor damage and keep dust and debris out of the living space.
The same month’s field photos show other common scenes from Miami service visits,
including register prep for duct cleaning, capacitor checks, and blower motor
replacement.
Before
Registers prepared before a duct cleaning. Covering and staging the openings helps
keep dust from moving through the living space while the ducts are cleaned.
During
Checking a capacitor on outdoor equipment. Capacitor testing is a routine part of
diagnosing hard starts, weak compressor or fan performance, and other electrical
symptoms.
During
Blower motor replacement on an indoor unit. When airflow drops or the blower fails,
replacing the motor restores circulation through the home.
Maintenance recovery · Customer review
Bringing overdue maintenance visits back onto the calendar
In August we ran a focused campaign to reconnect with customers who had not been
serviced or visited in a while. One team member began the outreach and was able to
schedule about four to five maintenance visits in a week, which had not been happening at
that pace before.
When the same approach was extended across the customer service team, the office booked
about 10 to 15 extra maintenance visits each week. That kept technicians busy with
planned care and recovered homes that had gone too long without a check.
One of those recovered visits produced a public review from Christopher Bennett after
technician Gregorio completed the work:
“Expedient, professional, and quality work. Gregorio is a highly competent
technician.”
Christopher Bennett · Local Guide
On the phone, the customer service team explained why the maintenance visit mattered and
what it included. The technician arrived on time, walked through the unit status, and
showed the homeowner what was needed. Clear expectations before the visit and a thorough
explanation on site are what turn a recovered maintenance call into a review worth
sharing.
